Your wedding in Barcelona, produced like a great event

A wedding abroad has a lot of moving parts: a venue you have only seen online, suppliers in another language, guests flying in from different places. Smart Culture plans and produces weddings in and around Barcelona with the same approach we use for large events: one plan, one run sheet and one person who keeps it all together.

We work in English, Dutch and Spanish, which makes us a natural fit for international and Dutch couples.

Weddings: Smart Culture

What we take care of

  • Choosing a venue: city rooftops, beach venues, hotels or a masia in the countryside
  • Suppliers: catering, flowers, photo and video, sound and light
  • Music for the whole day, from ceremony to dancefloor
  • Guest logistics: transport, welcome drinks and a day-after plan
  • A detailed run sheet and on-site coordination on the day

Music is where we come from

Mart has been a DJ since 2009 and still plays in Barcelona as Martista. We know how a dancefloor fills up and how much the timing of a day depends on the music. If you like, Martista can DJ at your wedding, or we book the musicians and DJ that fit you best.

Legal ceremony or symbolic ceremony

A legal civil marriage in Spain generally requires at least one partner to be a resident, and the paperwork goes through the Spanish civil registry. That is why many international couples marry legally at home first and hold a symbolic ceremony in Barcelona. It gives you complete freedom over the place, the words and the person who leads it. We help you plan whichever option suits you.

Questions

When is the best time to get married in Barcelona?

May, June, September and early October are popular: warm, but not as hot as July and August. Book early for those months.

Can we get legally married in Barcelona?

Usually only if one of you lives in Spain. Most international couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here.

Do you only plan Dutch weddings?

No. We plan weddings for couples from anywhere and work in English, Dutch and Spanish.

Can you just provide the DJ?

Yes. For DJ bookings only, see Martista's wedding DJ page at martistamusic.com.
